Thinking of a 4 night trip to Reykjavik in either Nov, Dec, Jan with a 6yo, 4yo and 2yo.

DH thinks it'll be a nightmare. The 6yo loves all things geological but the girls might be a bit young to appreciate it and the darkness might not help. Hmm.

How child friendly is Iceland?

I have taken my kids but they were older, 10,8 and 6 and it was summer. Its great but i'm not sure i'd do it in winter, too cold and too little day light. Most of the 'attraction' is geological as you say and so means being outside, even in June it wasn't always pleasant being outside! Clambering around glaciers, waterfalls and volcanoes won't be easy with a 2 year old and to be honest there is quite a lot of driving to get to places, Reykjavik is small and i'm not sure what you would do for 4 nights, think we had 3 there and it was probably too many, we self catered on a farm after that and that was better.

The geysers are brilliant for kids, they go off at regular intervals and always surprise them!
There's a handful of good museums and of course, the hot springs.
I think 4 nights would be fine if you book some trips out of the city.

You need to consider that there will only be between 4 and 5 hours of daylight at that time of year.
