We have booked the Hotel Suisse for 3 nights in Sept for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. It gets good reviews on Tripadvisor and the sea views look amazing.

I am also planning trip to Nice with Mum and two kids in June for 4 nights. Any recommendations for decent, close to beach, family resorts/hotels/apartments not too far away from Nice? We don't plan on hiring a car so will have to organise transfers from Nice airport. And if it wasn't in Nice, it would have to be westwards - we don't want to go towards Italy as we are there to visit family who live near Cannes.

I can recommend Hotel Suisse too. Close to the Cours de Saleya/old town/chateau and that end of the beach.

Portofino · 07/05/2012 22:44

Doyourworst - Antibes/Juan Les Pins are lovely and have lots of beachy type apartments. 15 mins in a taxi from Nice airport.

I live near Nice so don't have experience with hotels, but just wanted to say that it is a lovely place for a long weekend with your mum, OP Smile

Hotel Suisse is very near the old town of Nice (Cours Saleya, pedestrian streets, restaurants, little shops) and the beach, but I've always wondered if it is not too noisy to sleep in, because it is right on the road.

CoteDAzur · 07/05/2012 23:00

doyourworst - Juan les Pins is indeed very nice, with lovely beaches. Antibes is a bit too big and doesn't have much of a beach (known for its large marina).

Why not stay in Cannes? It is a great place, with beautiful beaches. Small town but very vibrant.

Portofino.. have you stayed at the Hotel Suisse, have we made a good choice??!!

I have booked a priveledge room and requested one on the 5th Floor, I thought the traffic noise might be better from there and I really wanted a balcony!!

Portofino · 08/05/2012 10:34

It was a few years back - but we enjoyed it.

doyourworst · 08/05/2012 22:18

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Unfortunately, the Hotel Suisse is booked out for the days I'm looking at. Any more specific family accommodation recommendations I could look into please in the Nice/Cannes area? Smile

Here it is. It was really lovely, enjoy Nice, its my favourite place in the whole world!

MelodyPondering · 08/05/2012 22:51

Oh have just seen its for a family, the old town might be too noisy for you. Villefranche Sur Mer is wonderful, I don't know any other bits of Nice as apart from trips to Monaco and Villefranche, we stayed in the old town....

doyourworst · 25/05/2012 16:53

melodypondering, thanks for the link. I found a place on that website, so it's all worked out well. It's 500m from the beach in Mandelieu and has three bedrooms and a shared pool, so ticks all the boxes.

Starting to get excited now! Smile

MelodyPondering · 26/05/2012 09:22

Oh fabulous Smile you will absolutely love it!

DinahMoHum · 06/06/2012 09:43
