Driving in France for a long weekend

Hello, I am thinking of driving to France/Belgium for a long weekend with my husband and 6 year old. We will be taking the ferry to Calais and are looking for recommendations of places to visit/stay within a relatively short drive from each other (1-3 hrs). Any recommendations are welcome... Has anyone done that before?

Bruges is nice about an hour from Calais.

Ypres is nice and the playing of the last post at the Menim gate every evening is worth attending, think it's 8 o'clock.

If you fancy the other direction look at Boulogne, Le Touquet and Baie de Somme. P & V have self catering apartments in complexes with pool etc which you can hire for short breaks.

Thank you all, this is really useful!

We've stayed at Sunparks OostDuinkirke and De Haan (now Centerparcs). The belgian coast is great - huge sandy beaches and lots to do. There used to be a fab website in English which i have linked to before....but can't find it anywhere.....French version

Bergues is nice - it's where they filmed Bienvenue Chez les Ch'tis
Reims is nice, too - just check that all the roadworks in the centre have finished, though.

P+V at Belle Dunne is nice - or the pool is and there are some lovely sights - bird park in the Somme estuary, little train and a couple of others all linked.
