Ground floor vs first floor

Hello.

I am currently looking at self catering holiday apartments and villas for a holiday to Spain in September with DH and DS who will be 23 months at the time. Are first floor apartments a bad idea with a toddler? I don't really like the idea of being on the ground floor but after talking to someone today I am now really worried about DS falling off a balcony. Any tips or advice?

Thanks.

After spending a very stressfull holiday with a toddler trying to climb over balcony... never again.. a nightmare.. ground floor a must for me now!!!

If there is air conditioning then ground floor.... If not you want to go for 1st floor to enable you to keep windows open.

Thanks for the advice. There is a ground floor apartment in one of the places we are looking so will check on the aircon. Still a bit sad to be losing any views....

I don't like being on the ground floor, but I don't have a toddler. We had two holidays in Corfu in ground floor apartments and we kept the windows and shutters closed at night because of the security risk.

At that age I would definitely go for ground floor. No view is worth 2 weeks worry.

DS2 used to sleepwalk and we once caught him trying to open balcony doors in the middle of the night. Given a choice I'd go for ground floor. You may well get more outdoor space with a terrace as well.
