Girlie shopping weekend.

Hi All,
Looking for suggestions for a 60th birthday shopping weekend break for a dear friend later in the year.
She's a committed shop-a-holic but likes independent shops rather than large chains. Clothes shops and gift shops are a particular favourite.
Any suggestions for towns/cities anywhere in UK (other than London for Olympic reasons) where we could go?

Bath - fab time here for recent girly weekend. not just the shops but street entertainers lovely places for coffee, pump house for afternoon tea, bath spa for a brilliant open air roof top pool, embroidery panels in the cathedral - loved it! we stayed at the holiday Inn. few mins walk into town opposite the best indian restaurant i have ever eaten in.

York, a mix of independent shops and chains. Lots of lovely culture and great places to eat. Oh and try the Earl Grey Tea Rooms in the Shambles, rather than the overpriced and overrated Bettys!

mummymeister - we ate at an amazing napalese place in bath. Really really good.

I'd recommend the Bizarre Bath walk as well, lots of fun and very silly!

Many thanks for your suggestions.
I'll make Bath the focus of my attention and get planning.
