We're off to Holland next week, staying near Leiden and had intended to just stop off in Bruges on the way and spend the afternoon there. However, due to a little, ahem admin error with the ferry booking on my part we arrive in Calais on Monday morning and our first night in Holland is Tuesday. So, I thought we'd stay somewhere near Bruges on Monday night... I think anywhere in Bruges is going to be too expensive for us. I've been trying to find somewhere outside of Bruges where we can park and get some public transport into the city, but I'm struggling! Ideally some kind of Formule 1 type situation - or at least in that price range. Anybody have any bright ideas?

Funny enough I know somebody who went to Bruges over Easter and stayed in the Novotel in the centre and said it was fine. About £90 for 2 adults plus 2 children. Don't know if that is too expensive for you.

Thanks bing. Was looking for around the £50 mark. I've given up trying to find anywhere in Bruges for that price, decided we can just spend the day in Bruges and then I've booked the Formule 1 in Ghent. Thanks for your help though.

Ghent is lovely - very like Bruges but without the hordes of tourists.
