Cliveden - what is it like?

Thinking of joining NT and Cliveden is quite close to us.

What is Cliveden like? Is there a wooded bit for walks? Does it get very busy? What is the play area like?

Are there other NT properties/areas in the region you prefer?

I have not been to Cliveden yet, but Waddesdon is brilliant. Fab woodland playground and lovely gardens, hills to roll down, fountains to look at etc

Sounds lovely snail :)

Have you been to any others?

We went to Cliveden this week, with DCs aged 6, 3 and 1. Older ones loved it. Good new play area, although probably not much in it for older children. Maze, plenty of gardens and woods to explore. We will be going back.

Second Waddeston too, it is fantastic all year round. Also Stowe if not to far, and we discovered Greys Court at Henley recently too. Quite small but lots for kids.

NT membership pays for itself pretty quickly for us!

Thanks for the info AGreatBalancingAct. We have a 4yr and an 18 month old.

Mainly looking for nice places to entertain them and wondering if NT is the key!

It works for our lot! The great thing is if it rains or they get fed up you can just come home and you don't feel you have wasted a small fortune... And it is a really cheap day out once got membership if you take a picnic. Go for it!

Do they get really busy on weekends or holidays do you find?

Quite busy, but it's never been a problem. You could give one a try, and if you like convert into full membership on the day, so you get your entrance fee deducted from membership cost.

If I'm completely honest, the only thing that puts me off if it is filled with the middle classes who will look down on us.

We are a working class family and I'm not sure if its too posh for us Blush
