Hi we have one day in Toronto before going on to Niagara, we have a 5 and 7 year old - any suggestions for things to do, we may stay at the Novotel Central. Any recommendations for cheap good eating out too would be fab, thanks

If the weather is nice Toronto Islands are great (beaches, kids amusement bit on centre island on the summer, walks etc).

The CN tower is good but quite pricy.

There are loads of places to eat along the harbour front, some of them are expensive but lots are reasonably priced.

Don't both with the tourist traps in yonge Dundas square or the harbourfront. Go for dim sum in china town around Sunday's and Spain's which is close by to the art gallery of Ontario or AGO. It's cheap - try Rol San. You can order around 6 dishes for $30. Or seek out Vietnamese places where you'll get a large bowl of Pho for about $6.

With young children I would head to the Island. Lots of child friendly stuff to do if the weather is nice.

I had the best Japanese food ever in Toronto - better than Tokyo!! We went to loads of Korean and Japanese restaurants in Toronto and they were all fab, even the cheapest ones.
