Things to do in Manchester

We are visiting family in Manchester. Do you have any recommendations for day trips?

Have visited lego discovery centre and plan to visit Chester zoo (weather permitting!)

The weather isn't that great and not likely to be this week so perhaps more indoor stuff than outdoor

We have a car do don't mind driving, even outside of Manchester

Museum of science and industry is quite good (though I am a science geek) and usually has some fun holiday stuff on, I like the blue planet aquarium too (near Chester Zoo) If you have young little ones there is a childrens museum called Eureka in Halifax which is not far away and that is pretty good. Lyme park is nice if you get good weather.

We are going to museum of science tomorrow. Right up my street too! Went to Chester zoo today but didn't have time for the aquarium as the zoo was a long day in itself. May try the park if

Home made cakes in the cafe were quite nice too
