Family-friendly & quality hotels in/around Brighton?

Looking for an hotel or guesthouse with baby-listening etc, you know Moonfleet/Fowey/Bedruthan style in Brighton or within 10 miles of Brighton so we can base ourselves there and visit friend and family we've neglected too long for at least a long weekend this summer. Has anyone got any recommendations/tips, please. Ideally somewhere chic/cool, but I realise they aren't always keen on the smalls. Hotel Seattle seems FFish, but doesn't have listening and DS still needs that. TIA, Bear

The same group who own Moonfleet et al also have a group of hotels called Alias. They are aimed more at the business market but do offer baby listening, I'm pretty sure, and put kids beds in the parents' room and so on. Hang on, I'll try and find the name of the one in Brighton....

Oh bum, sorry, I just realised it's Seattle, the one you mentioned. Would they be able to arrange a babysitter maybe?

I'd recommend Hotel du Vin - we stayed there with a 3 month old and it was fab. Baby monitors worked everywhere, really stylish, great food. Expensive though!

really - I love the HdV here in Bristol , but never thought of taking the monsters - do they have monitors or did you bring yours? Would you think differently if you had mobile 2 and 4 year olds with you rather than a baby? Money's not no object, but if it's the only place to fit the bill, then it's the only place to fit the bill

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 14/02/2006 13:35

wherever it is, would you take a 4 and a 2 year old there? and do they have listening?

The Belgrave do babysitting but it looks very fusty

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 15/02/2006 22:13

it does doesn't it, thanks anyway. It's not sitting we want but listening - we just want to have dinner downstairs, but it has to be somewhere you'd want to have dinner IYSWIM

knew someone who worked in HotelduVin, she said so many couples at dinner had baby monitors!!

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 16/02/2006 17:22

that's really useful to know as I was about to plump for Seattle and hope for the best, now I'm stuck between a nice rock and a very nice hard place
