Japanese Restaurant in South/south-east (not london)

Looking for a nice Japanese restaurant for 30th birthday Sake and Sushi fest (with somewhere walking distance away to stay at somewhere outside of London). Anywhere south of England from Wiltshire to Essex.

The ideal would be a county house hotel with a sushi restaurant attached, I know probably impossible, but I bet if it exists mumsnet will find it Grin

Murasaki - Brighton

Hanako - Watford

There used to be a conveyor belt type sushi place in Chelmsford (not Yo Sushi!)

:)

edamame in Oxford is highly recommended by Japanese friends. the Old Parsonage hotel is easily within walking distance and sort of qualifies as Country house... (Lots of other hotel options too, of course!)

Stanton House is just what you are looking for Grin

Stanton House sounds good. Is the saki sushimi good?

I have heard good things about Stanton House too, though haven't managed to go yet. It's the hangout for Honda people, isn't it?

AngryFeet · 17/04/2012 09:57

Okinami in Brighton is good

Cane on to say Stanton house

It's fab

Stanton house is part owned by Honda I believe - it is certainly very, very authentic in the Mt Fuji restaurant, and the food was great. I can't vouch for the saki though as was always driving when we visited - have been to Mt Fuji once, and to the sunday buffet a number of times

Thanks Thanks for the replies. I really like the idea of Stanton House, absolutely perfect, but it's just a little too far away Sad

I think it might well be Brighton....
