HOlidays for larger families

My family and 1 are planning to go to the west coat of america or possibly the east coast, i.e. new york, next year at some point.

The sticking point, is that we are a family of 5 children, plus 2 adults, it seems that we are not catered by the average travel agency.

My youngest will be 3 next year, and my oldest will be 17.

ANy tips etc., would really help , we would obviously need to keep down costs, also, neither my husband and i drive.

any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Can't begin to conceive of how you'll manage if you don't drive. NYC okay, elsewhere dire.
Why USA? Medical insurance alone will be pricey.
Kenya or Egypt would be good. Cheaper & you can afford a FT driver with vehicle.

It is pretty easy to be a large family in the USA. Hotel rooms and restaurants all cater for larger groups. Most hotel rooms have 2 Queen beds (kingsize in UK), so sleep four. If you use something like Embassy Suites, you get two rooms plus a sitting room and kitchenette. There are lots of 'Suite hotel' chains.

What kind of holiday do you want?

A city holiday can get old really quickly with your different age groups. A resort holiday would work well for you, where there are children's clubs for all ages. You should be able to get limousine transfers from a local airport to a resort.

Without a car, you have to travel by plane or Amtrak, and you really won't be able to keep costs down. Amtrak is extortionate (I have checked!).

I also have five children and have done a fair bit of vacationing in the USA, but with access to a car.
