Leave for Australia in just over 2 weeks and planning whatto take for DS on plane. He is 20 months, we are flying direct with a 3 hour stop in Singapore. So far I have:

Crayons
Wipe clean crayon board
playdough
Books (couple of favs abnd going to buy a couple of new ones)
jigsaw

Any other ideas........... 23 hours is beginning to seem quite scarey!

Character figures
Little tape recorder with headphones.

In fact I followed a tip from on here last year when goinng to America...take a little something wrapped up to open every hour, eg crayons. Worked a treat with my 2

Do you think he would keep headphones on? Have an ipod and was thinking of putting a load of kids songs and stories on it.

couldn't you get some of the old fashioned foam type headphones to fit into your ipod?
If you do that you could also upload some stories

We did that exact same flight with DD at 20 months. We avoided anything that had lots of pieces involved, would have ended up on the floor, we lost 2 dummies that way too!

DD loved playing with the seatbelt attachment. Favourite book, teddy etc.

I brought 2 new books, a mini bead frame and colouring book. I hid them in the hand luggage and produced them on the plane at various points so they had good novelty value! We also got some stuff from the flight attendants too. Does he have his own seat?

melrose · 06/02/2006 21:46

Thanks MM, yes he has his own seat and we are taking his carseat to go on it.

That's good. We had bassinet for DD & it was a life saver. On flight home from Sing - LHR the flight attendant found a spare seat for the guy next to us, to give us some more room. DD loved it, spent alot of time playing with the tray & watching the cartoons on the TV!

Who are you flying with?

think the in ear headphones would be fine dd loves hers
usually flights at night so hopefully will sleep - may be worth getting the medised in - never used it myself but sposed to help them relax for travelling - there might even be another medicine for travelling?

We did this with dd when she was 19mo. We booked
a bassinet even though she had almost grown out
of it by then - it was worth it - she slept for
long chunks. We took books, crayons, a whole pad of paper, teddy - didn't need much - walking round the aircraft and entertaining the other passengers filled much of the flight. And lots of running around during the break at Singapore. It was much easier than we expected.
Good luck!
