We are staying near Newquay in a beautiful barn. The beaches are fabulous. We went to padstow and loved it. Not so impressed with the actual town of Newquay. Where else should we visit? Please recommend .....

The eden project is not far, towards St Austel, Also there is Tintagel, A very small place but I would say worth it, we always have a day their. Last year we stayed at lands end and travelled round that area, if you can bear any more driving, Marazion is worth a look, that is where St Michaels Mount is, there is also some of the lovliest beaches down there, Porthcurno is one of them. Have a fab time.

Newquay zoo isn't too bad, also something called Dairyland which is near Newquay. I would recommend Eden as they usually put on special kids activities (den building, water experiments, story time etc) during holidays, so even if plants not your thing there is things to do whatever the weather. There's a Steam Railway at Lappa Valley near ish to Newquay. Also Newquay aquarium Ok and right on the beach.

If you have good weather I would make the most of the beaches:)

Thank you both for your suggestions. Ds has already mentioned the zoo but thought we would make the most of this weather and leave the zoo until the end of the week. Tintagel sounds good. Is Truro nice or shall we give that a miss?

Newquay zoo is ok, and next to it is Waterworld with 25m pool and separate fun pool with slides etc.

Crealy is worth a visit if log flumes and death slides are your thing and they usually have special Easter activities. Take a picnic though.

If you head back towards Padstow you can drive up to Trevose Head (with lighthouse) and walk to lifeboat station which is impressive to look round. Lots of steps though if you have very young children. Fantastic beaches around there too.

Watergate bay is lovely and just north of newquay. Pretty beach, surf stuff for hire, Jamie Oliver restaurant and the watergate bay hotel itself which has lovely cafe overlooking the bay.

We are not the log flume type lol!!!! The lighthouse sounds fabulous and ds2 would love that so will look at that. Thank you all for being so helpful. It is great to get some recommendations from real people Smile

We like the long sandy beach at Perranporth if the weather is nice. Would second Tintagel. St. Ives is lovely too.

We are booked into Jamie Oliver's on Friday at watergate as it is my birthday-very excited.

We have done Eden project when we stayed in north Cornwall a few years ago so won't bother with it this time. Today has been lovely as we went to crantock beach. A lovely day and free Wink

I don't think you can look inside the lighthouse at Trevose Head anymore as it's no longer manned but you can definately look inside lifeboat station.Fantastic walks around the headland with super views.

Worth a stop at National Trust cafe at Bedruthan Steps for a cream tea on your way back to Newquay! Grin

Tintagel is awesome. The castle ruins aren't that extensive, but it is the geography of the place that is amazing. I hope you like walking. Also worth a visit is Boscastle. It is very pretty and has an interesting witch museum. Other places - the lost gardens of Heligan, St Michael's Mount and Lanhydrock.
