Next week I have a slightly bizarre business trip to Perth, where I will have a day with nothing to do due to flights.

Any suggestions of interesting things to do in the city ?

I would do one of two things. Go to Kings Park. It's lovely, flocks of parrots in the trees, great views, just a lovely relaxing day out.

Or I'd get on the train and go to Fremantle for the day. And if you have time do the tour of Fremantle gaol. Very entertaining day out in a fantastic setting.

Enjoy yourself!

where are you staying?
King's Park is always great (botanical gardens , war memorial, glass bridge)
Then maybe Cottesloe beach....
Or are you more of an art gallery /museum person?

I'm not quite sure where I'll be staying Blush its a very last minute thing - only found out this morning. My meeting is at Sir Charles Gairdner hospital, so it'll either be out there or downtown. Have stayed downtown before.

I like museums, and Kings Park sounds nice.

Wine tasting river cruise. Winner.

A cruise with wine would be perfect if there was someone with me, but I think on my own it wouldn be less fun

But it's Oz - people will overshare befriend you in seconds (if you let them!)

I've only been there once, tbh, and that was only for a couple of days, but I seem to remember that the riverboats left from a jetty in the downtown area, so that's why I thought convenient for you. Maybe ask concierge at your hotel for ideas once you're there?

I also seem to recall Fremantle was nice - seafront cafes and stuff. Saw a band there, quite famous, can't for the life of me remember.

If the meeting is at Charlie's then it would be great to stay at the Richardson or nearby, and spend the Day at King's Pk plus Either the ocean beaches. Or the river (Matilda Bay, etc) Or go into the city to the museum, or take the ferry to South Perth for he zoo.

River cruise to vineyard and wine tasting (general piss up) - if you want someone to go with you I could try fitting in your luggage

Motorcycle tour - if you don't ride you can go as pilion - the one I went on took in Kings Park and Freemantle

Kings Park

Rotnest Island - how often do you get to meet a quokka?

The old mint

Cohunu Koala Park - you get to have your photo taken with a koala, they are not natives to WA so you have no chance of seeing them wild

There are also loads of pottories / art studios along the road to Cohuna if you hire a car.
