Overnight stay close to Manchester airport?

I have a flight leaving at 6am from Manchester airport for our holidays and so I'm thinking it would be best to have a room somewhere nearby booked for the evening before the flight as we don't live near airport.

Has anyone else done this ? Did it work ok and where did you stay?

My family have used this place a few times when they have been to an event at my house and I haven't had room to accommodate everyone.

They were very positive about it, which given how fussy some members of my family can be, means it was very good indeed.

Thanks for recommendation Smile

I have just seen the time! Shock

I am going to bed but I will look at Premier Inn and hopefully book it in the morning.

I just booked hte Travelodge at manchester airport for July at £15 for the room for 3 of us!

beanandspud · 01/04/2012 00:09

Bewleys at Manchester is very good. They also do some good deals on parking if you stay over.

singleWhiteMale · 01/04/2012 00:20

Another recommendation for Premier Inn. There are two of them across the road from each other, both good. There is a shuttle bus to the airport terminals every 20 minutes from 4.00am.

You can avoid parking charges if you arrive at the airport by train and use the shuttle bus to get to and from the hotel.

singleWhiteMale · 01/04/2012 00:37

Just checked and it looks like the shuttle service is discontinued :(

OH stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel last week before an early flight. It is a Holiday Inn and they do an on demand shuttle service. It included the cost of parking for a week as well.

We found the travelodge to be awful and got bitten to bits in the night we stayed there, my asthma also set off I think from the dust.

makemineapinot · 03/04/2012 20:16

Oh no wishiwas - was that recently? It was recommended by friends who stayed there a few months ago and said it was fine - just bog standard travelodge and they said the rooms were clean.

BellaVita · 03/04/2012 20:17

Bewleys - very close and nice.

chocolateshoes · 03/04/2012 20:18

Agree Bewleys is v good & sooo close you can walk. We parked for 2 weeks for free

wishiwasonholiday · 03/04/2012 20:28

Makemine it was at the end of last sept I ended up at the doctors in Egypt as I couldn't breathe after a night in there.

boredandrestless · 04/04/2012 19:16

Sorry I'm only just coming back to the thread - still haven't booked anything!

So it's looking like either Premier Inn or Bewleys. Bewleys is a bit dearer but soo close to airport!

Need to check that the shuttles start before I need to head to airport, will have to check flight times/check in times and shuttle times.

I will be travelling from my home town to Manchester by train, so don't have to worry about parking charges, and won't be doing a stopover on the way home as the flight times are a bit better than the outbound flight.
