Does anyone have any advice or suggestions about where would be a nice place to go in Jersey or coast of Brittany? I want to go at the end of August and my dd will be almost 2yeards old by then. I will also be going with my mum. Self catering prefered.

St. Briac is lovely, right on the coast. Really anywhere on the coast of Brittany is lovely. If you get the ferry to St. Malo you won't have a long drive the other side.

I know you have said you want the coast, but the interior is also beautiful. We have stayed all over Brittany and I think my favourite place of all was Dinan. Even if you do end up on the coast, put aside a couple of days to visit some of the fascinating old towns.

if yopu want to go to a campiste I'd recommend:

camping vilage la plage at le Guilvenic - [http://alanrogers.com/campsites/yelloh-village-la-plage-FR29110] is fab - right on the beach (we carried our bbq onto the beach some evenings) and plenty to do for children. You can cycle into town as there's a cycle track along the beach.

Also [http://www.keycamp.co.uk/sites/france-brittany/bs023-le-mane-guernehue.html is fab] but you def need a car to drive to the beaches and it is hilly but the pool and location are lovely and you can walk into the village of baden which has everythign you'll need.

and: [http://www.canvasholidays.co.uk/Campsite-Overview.aspx?id=BR09N is also fab] - you can walk to the beach but it is a trek and you'd need the car to get to better beaches and into raguees which has lovely restaurants etc. tehse are the 3 Brittany sites I've been to that I'd recommend.

Started taking my DC to mobile homes on French camps ites when ds was 18m and dd3 m!! So perfect for a 2 year old who will hopefully go to bed early leaving you time to sample the local wine and cheese outside your mobile home in the evening!

We owned a mobile home at Bel-Air park for many years (only sold it as too small now kids are teenagers) and miss it loads. The park is fabulous, the site's lovely, and it takes about 10 mins to drive to the beach. It's at Landudec, between Quimper and Audienne. Take the ferry to Roscoff and it's about an hours drive. Owners Direct usually have some mobiles advertised there

We're going here first two weeks of August www.tinytotsholidays.com/ - but the friends we were going with have had to pull out because their baby has been diagnosed with a rare tumour. He's lost his sight and is going to be spending the rest of the year continuing his chemo and maybe radiotherapy.
They are being absolutely amazing. They'd paid their deposit and will only get it back if someone else books and as my friend can't go back to work this is not good.
If you're thinking of Brittany anyone please consider this it does look fab

Are any of these areas good for safe, flat family cycling?

We compared Jersey and Brittany last year. The ferry to Jersey was £500 alone. There are only three campsites on Jersey, certainly of any size. One stood out as being a lot nicer than the others and could have taken us but in the end it was going to cost a lot and in fact we went to Cornwall instead.
However we have stayed at Le Chatelet in Brittany at St Cast also La Baie at Trinite sur Mer. Both lovely. Les Deux Fontaines and Raguenes Plage are next to a beautiful beach called Tahiti Plage www.bestfrenchcampsites.com/campsites/lesdeuxfontaines/deuxfontainesindex.html
for a smaller site at beach but which you would book with the site we also liked camping des abers brittany
I dont have a link but you will find it by searching and the following were nice too :
la grange de monteillac

le ruisseau

camping les roches brittany
