Manchester is heaving with museums!

So is Lancashire

The Lowry has lots of activities and is also next to Old Trafford and a huge discount shopping place.

Jan's house?

JanH · 03/02/2006 18:12

noooo, you don't want to come to my house, we are building up to a boot sale and the place is littered with filthy boxes that have been in the attic for months....

OTOH, I could have the boot sale right here!!! (Would anybody come.....?)

On a nice day Formby is lovely

If you have boys the National Football Museum is good and it's free

Another nice day one is Tatton Park

Bit further out, but we really like Cedar Farm , try the brown sugar meringues!! Probably not big enough for a whole day but it's quite near Southport, which is also nice

And if you are heading Southport way Martin Mere is very good

Phew!!

adn I bet we will still be bored at half term!

Hollingworth lake - its a lake with a nice pub cheap food boats n stuff

Tortington · 04/02/2006 00:17

we used to get the bus up to pots & pans - its a big hill, near saddleworth climb up it - then run down. sounds pants but it isn't

also the resevoir in greenfield and indians head ( another hill) lots of nice walks bats n stuff. parking,

also look up canals. and fishing. fishing bores the shit out of me but when i was a kid we always went to bardsley vale in oldham or daisy nook as most will know it. with a fishing net and we used to pick plowers and press them, also short country walks and lovely re- done canal there. if you walk from bardsley through to daisy nook following the canal theres a picnic area and a stone bridge the water is shallow enough to paddle in and play in. great in summer. then walk on further there is a garden centre with a coffee shop.
