Is it possible to find a decent summer holiday abroad that won't cost the earth??

I'm lucky that I have been given some thomas cook vouchers to use on a holiday for myself and DS.

I have spent the past 48 hours looking at holidays and getting more overwhelmed and confused! I just don't know what to look at so any recommendations would be great.

We can either go whitweek in june, or any time in august.
I'd like there to be a sandy beach and a pool. DS wants a water slide.

What can you use thomas cook vouchers for? can you buy just flights/ferry crossings with them? I think the cheapest way is to go self catering. You can rent a mobile home on a holiday park (so have the pool etc) for buggar all booking through something like owners direct.

I don't drive Indith so can't really do those kind of holidays. Unless I'm missing some way around the not having a car. ? [clueless]

They have to be used to book instore but they will match prices on their website if that's cheaper.

no, it'll cost you a bomb

but be prepared for posters here telling you you can get a cheap week for £3k!!

£3K ha ha ha! Grin

Lovely Thomas Cook lady has the task in her capable hands, and shall be finding me something up to £1200. That is my absolute limit and it would have to be all inclusive and fabulous for me to pay that. She seemed happy with this figure, the ones we looked at were around this mark but computer kept crashing. TBH that is a wee bit too much for me but I will find it if there's no alternative.

hope you get something sorted!

Last year we went to Turkey (2 adults one child) for a total of £900 for a week in August. Wasn't with Thomas Cook though!

I did SSD Smile

We are off to tunisia!

KatandKit - thomas cook definitely not the cheapest option out there so it did rankle to just go straight into one shop - I usually like to bargain hunt.

I think you can pay what you want for a holiday but it had to be pretty much on the beach (due to DS's needs), and he wanted water slides, both of which bumped the price up.

A ferry to France may be your cheapest option. I was quoted £4K for flights and accommodation in a tiny chalet on a Keycamps camp in Spain a couple of days ago
