HELP - travel cot mattress

Hello
I'm flying long haul (tropical country) next week with my 3mo. We are staying in a few different hotels, which are providing cots for our use. Have only just realised when reading another thread, that the cot mattresses provided may be of dubious quality. Don't really fancy buying a travel cot mattress given that I don't know what size the cots will be, and haven't really got time!
I saw these in Ikea - would something like this to go over the cot mattress be any good do you think?
Please help, am worried now!
Thanks

Not sure about that as it syas that air can circulate freely, so it wouldn't form a barrier between the potentially dodgy mattress and your lo.

What about a pop up travel got ? We got one to take away to Germany when our ds1 was 3 months old and it was fine. I was going to put it on eBay but am happy to offer it to you first?

Thanks but we will have our pram carry cot so could use that if needs be. What exactly is the problem with old mattresses, is it bacteria etc? I did look at waterproof protectors but they aren't 'breathable' so didn't think they'd be any good in a hot country.

Yes the risk is from bacteria I think and the increased risk of SIDS - I'll freely admit that I don't know a lot about it because we always took our own cot.

As long as your carry cot is ok for overnight sleeping that should be ok, though there's never much room for arm flailing etc in them if your lo does that (ours were still swaddled at that age).

Yes the mattress is approved and she's still in the moses basket at home, so should be fine. Thanks for help. I might just see what the mattresses are like when we get there, and then decide. Smile
