Benidorm-Is It As Bad As It Appeared Last Night?

I had the misfortune to watch Holiday Showdown last night. Now, Benidorm has never been high on my list of places to go on holiday but after last night's viewing I wouldn't go there even if it was free. Come on there must be some redeeming things about the place or is it just plain crass!

No, it is just plain crass. Really.

i drove through it once and it looked awful.

I'm embarrassed to admit I actually went there on holiday some years ago (not my choice!). Omg it was dreadful. The town is split into two - the old town (which you can see was once a pretty little Spanish town) and the horrific, ghastly, appalling new town, which is thronged with high rise hotels. The nightlife is APPALLING. Sticky Vicky and her razor blade trick anyone? >

you bloody loved it, sd

I've never been there but I've been to Torremalinos and that certainly isn't quite as bad as the press. That said I've never been there in high season but there does seem to be plenty of ordinary Spanish life in the old town and Malaga, which is nearby, is a pretty cool town. Mind you I'm unusual in that I quite like 50's,60's and 70's kitsch.
