We're thinking of going to one of the Canary Islands for some winter sun in April but as it might not be warm enough to just fool around in the pool, I need to have a bit of an itinerary to keep the boredom at bay. Please can anyone tell me what sort of things we might get up to? I'm assuming bike hire, boat trip etc. DCs are 7 and 10. We don't mind which island we go to.

TIA

you should be ok if you have a heated pool. we've been in feb a couple of times and it was fine. lanzarote has the mountains/volcanoes which i think are a must.

thanks dreaming. We went to Lanzarote last summer and did no tourist stuff at all I'm ashamed to say. Well, other than eat in some of the local restaurants of course. Smile

We are going to Lanzarote at Easter. I've been to Canaries many times in winter/spring and you are right about it being less "water based". Even when they say the pool is heated it's far too cold for me. Last April we went to Fuertaventura and the weather was beautiful albeit chilly in the evening. My teenagers found they couldn't spend all day in the pool or sea like they would on a summer holiday.
I am hoping we will do some volcano stuff and hope to visit the cactus garden.

mckenzie, depends which canary you are going to to know what other stuff to recommend but April is warm enough for pool & beach anyway.

If you go to Lanzarote there is a great evening excursion called Rancho Texas which your kids (and you) would love! You get greeted by cowboys on horses and led inside for an evening of live music, lassoo shows, bucking bronco, line dancing lessons, free flowing sangria and soft drinks and a BBQ- it's great!
