We usually holiday with my parents but this isn't possible this year and rather than not go, I thought I'd brave it just the 2 of us.

DS is 4 so is at the age where he likes doing (rather than sleeping...damn it!) He is unlikely to go in a kids club type thing but we need somewhere where there's loads to do.

We usually do beach holidays which we both enjoy and would be looking to go in August.

I've looked at Disneyland Paris but it seemed really expensive. (£2K for 4 nights with food/ flights etc)

Any recommendations/ advice etc would be great.

TIA

It's said a lot on here but a cruise is a great idea for a single parent. I went when my son was 4 and paid £400 each for a week round the Med.
My son isn't great in kids clubs so I didn't get any time to myself but he had a great time in the small pool and I sunbathed with waiter service next to him. We went ashore everyday which was great as there often a beach in every port.

Menorca is fabulous for young families, very safe, none if the resorts has a clubbing culture so you cant go wrong.
We went to Cala n bosch twice and loved it.

How about a family friendly hotel in Costa Dorada and a visit to Port Aventura theme park?

it's just DS and I this year as well, so I am going to an AI place in the north of Ibiza. Nothing too exciting, but it should be ok. If you make sure you go somewhere with a good children's club, he might be happy to join for one hour or two. Mine always did at that age. If you are into activities yourself, have a look at Neilson Beach Clubs. Their children clubs are so good that no child can resist them.
