We are planning on going away in March and I am in a bit of a dilemma as to which flight to take, so could do with some opinions please! The flights is about 8 hours, and there will be a +4 hour time difference. DS will be 30 mths and I will be 6mths pg.
Option 1: Daytime flight - gets in at 11pm local time, so we would head straight for the hotel and go to bed. Don't know how I would amuse DS on the flight for that long though, as he is unlikely to sleep and is very active.
Option 2: Go for a night-time flight, that gets in at 7am local time, in the hope that DS will get some sleep on the plane. Am aware that DH and I probably won't end up sleeping though, so we may need to go to the hotel and sleep anyway. Oh, and last time I took DS on a red-eye he only slept for about 2 hours.
So there you have it - which one would you go for?
TIA

i would go for the nite flight and straight to bed.
we took ds to perth oz when he was 16mths old and my dr gave me a sedative for him as ds was/is very active. you could have a word with your dr and say that being pg it would very hard work. will your ds watch a dvd? most long flight have films in.

I would go for the nightflight too. When we flew overnight with dd1 we put her pyjamas on and took her nightime blanket to help her adjust to the idea of sleeping on the plane. Didn't work on the way out, but did on the way back.

A mild sedative is a good idea if you're doctor can give you one.
