Boutique hotels or similar in Lakes you'd recommend?

Looking for a nice hotel for a one-night couple getaway. South end of Lakes would be easier on the driving time. LOVE Hotel du Vin style but can't afford that price level right now. Any places anyone would recommend for nearer £100, than £200 and up, a night? TIA.

Drunken Duck Inn was recommended a few years ago on Mumsnet and has been on my "must-go-to" list ever since. It looks gorgeous and the food gets lots of great write ups in papers and magazines.

Nearer to £100 if you go Sunday-Thurs and have a courtyard or standard room, breakfast and afternoon tea included.

We love the drunken duck - alhtough we haven't been for 2 years due to baby but food is great, nice beer, beautiful bedrooms - fab!
