We have the chance to go to Iceland (due to DH work) at very low cost to us in May. However is there anything to do with a 18 month-er? Looks to be a very grown-up kind of place but I don't want to miss the chance to go.

The Blue Lagoon welcomes kids but is there anything else? DH will be in a conference for 4 days so I need things to fill up this time that don't involve hiring a car.

We took 6,8 and 10 year olds at that time last year, it was great but would be more difficult without a car I would think. Rykjavik is pleasant but small, there are boat trips to see whales but may be a bit long for younger kids and we were very sick! The best things we saw were further out and may not suit an 18 month old, you could go to a beach. I think there were playgrounds in the city. I would definately go if it were me but you may have to search further about what to do with a toddler. Also it is light about 18 hours a day then so make sure you are staying somewhere with good blackout!

Thanks geogteach I didn't know they had beaches - she would love that even if it's a bit chilly!

On my one brief visit we found Icelandic people to be very welcoming to kids.
