Where to go with 1 year old

So, we have a week in June planned for a holiday. We would love to go abroad but need to do it fairly cheaply. Do we risk a last minute deal? Any tips for this? Thinking Europe is expensive but don't fancy long haul with a baby. What to do, what to do! Please give my indecisive arse a kick.

What about Freiburg, in the Black Forest? you can fly from Heathrow to Basel. It takes about 1 hour. Then you catch a bus for 45 minutes into Freiburg. Once there, you can take public transport into the mountains, lakes, visit the lovely city and go to EuropaPark (theme park). The weather should be nice in June as well.

Avoid the first week in June as this is half term and it will be busier and more expensive. other than that, pick somewhere that you like - your one year old won't care so long as he/she can potter about. would try and avoid anywhere too hot. alternatively stay in the UK and have a lovely holiday at home with no need to worry about flying.

Long haul isn't at all bad if they are good sleepers. If they don't sleep then yes forget it! Go on to Travelzoo as they find all the cheap holidays and put them on one website. I'd just find somewhere nice with a beach.
Europe is expensive I think but I don't see the point of staying in the UK for the much same money. The trouble with travel and children it's all so immediate - they need a drink NOW, nap Now, food NOW etc etc. With a baby you don't have to worry as much so take the opportunity. Find a deal and go!
