We are planning to got to Ile de re this year, probably during June, DD will take out a week from nursery. We will probably get a flight to La Rochelle then get a taxi to the island we decide to stay in. Have any of you got a favourite island? Do any of you know of a good place to stay with two young children, we don't mind hotel or house but would like a pool?

Any knowledge of Ile de Re would be appreciated.

We love ile de re. You will have a great holiday. Flights to la Rochelle are nice and short Nd its a tiny airport so nice and easy. Taxi to your accommodation is best as you won't want a car on the island.

There are lovely villages to choose from. We like ars en re which is further to the top of the island or la flotte which is more in the middle. St martin is the largest and is fab but perhaps nicer for day trips.

There is a lighthouse quite far up the island which is worth a visit and in st martin you can see the donkeys...have you already read about the donkeys in trousers? Your DD will LOVE them.

There are nice beaches around and every village is so pretty. It's an amazing place. Everyone cycles using tag a longs or baby seats for the little ones. It's very flat so super easy. The bus service is pretty good too.

Feel free to come back with any questions as we have been a few times now.

My preference on ile de re is a villa but there are really good hotels too.
