Only heard abotu Lykia world on Mumsnet - suddenly it's everywhere. Anyone compare with Club Meds in SouthEurope/ North Africa - looking for guaranteed heat in June.

And the food - this is as important as the kids clubs, which has the nicest food?! Will be fending off the anticipated a six pound gain in 7 days..

Never been to Club Med but have been to Lykia World a few times. The kids Clubs are very good, but DS1 (7) loves the waterpark which is great. It has a children restaurant in the waterpark which is brilliant for a lunchtime snack.

I love the food at LW. The fresh fruit and veg is fantastic and they serve really excellent local dishes. There is alway local seafood on offer and in the Marina restaurant they carve and they grill whole shark/tuna/ and make pizza. With many of the dishes they freshly cook them for you. The sweet menu is really good. I particularly like the 15 different types of baklava Grin. The restaurants are huge but (marina and residence are the best -but there is a great attention to detail). There is obviously the obligatory pasta/chips/baked potatoes if you have unadventurous eaters. If you don't fancy any of that then there are 6/7 speciality restaurants on site. Yum.

Okaay Grin.

Family rooms are 2 separate bedrooms IIRC so pretty spacious. I think you get 2 bathrooms. But you really won't ever be in them.

Are you looking at the Residence or Village?

The younger kids clubs are more cheesy (mini discos etc) but when they get to 7+ they do loads of sporty/activity stuff - rockclimbing, riding, water polo, treasure hunts, supervised waterpark, karate, football, archery. They separate them out into similiar age groups. They are good - even the older kids like them.

I've booked directly and also through Thomsons.

Thank you. Would you recommend Residence or village, - will go back to my thomas cook quote and see what it says.

My kids 9 and 11 so will appreciate the older stuff. did you leave the complex at all and venture out?

Think I went to Olu Deniz years ago on one of those 5 week through middle east trip. Very much not remotely luxurious - but remember Olu Deniz as an oasis of sorts.

Your kids will LOVE it at 9 and 11 Grin

Probably village for rooms if you're having a family room. Residence is better for buggies.

Yes Olu Deniz very busy in the evenings, beach isn't up to much at LW but beautiful beaches nearby, that's if you can prise the kids away from the waterpark. A taxi is easy to get from reception.

I've not been to Lykia world but been to Club Med Beldi and Hammamet and loved both! We are going back to Turkey this year but trying Club Med Palmiye (we are going in June). The food at both was amazing and great accomodation in Hammamet, and fine in Beldi. The staff were mostly fantastic going out of there way to make our holiday really special and we met some lovely English families whom we have kept in touch with. Any questions please ask! x
