DCs would like Science museum, MIL has suggested natural History as she thinks will be less crowded. We've all been to both before and i really fancy trying something a bit off the beaten track (both literally and figuratively speaking).

DCs are 10 (into WW1 and 2, travel, science, gadgets) and 6 (into girlie stuff but also most things her brother likes too).

TIA

Whereabouts in London are you going into? If East or East-ish...

Climb the Monument, walk to Tate Modern, have meal there, and then take the boat to Greenwich/Greenwich and back, it's a fantastic ride, esp on a cold day.

thanks joanofarchitrave. If MIL doesn't feel able to climb the monument, is there anything for her to do at the bottom while the DCs and i climb?

Imperial War Museum has a special photography thing going on if that's of any interest?

or

Battersea Children's Zoo, although could be a bit cold at this time of year!

Duck boat tour may be a hit but is pricy. M and m store and Chinatown are good fun as is Pollocks toy museum.

thanks very much DD. Battersea is a bit too far south for us but i think DS might well be interested in the IWM and it's photography thing. I shall check that out. Thanks again.

thanks dinky. We did the duck tours last summer (and great fun it was too, the DCs absolutely loved it). I like the look of that toy museum. DS would love to go to Chinatown but i fear we'd never get him away and he would empty my purse wanting to try all the food.

The museum of London is quite near the monument. It had a refurb last year and is well worth a look around. It's been a hit with lots of kids I've taken there and it's free.

National Army Museum in Chelsea?

mckenzie · 14/02/2012 17:27

thanks everyone. We ended up stopping off to see an old for colleague of mine and having lunch in the City so we only made it to the Museum of London. MIL and DS really enjoyed it. DD and I found it a tad warm to say the least. I'd go back though, without the dcs i think for a proper look. Thanks NannyR for that suggestion and thank you all for the ideas. Quite a few of them have been put in the envelope ready for other days.
