Is it expensive to eat out in the Canary Islands?

I've never been to any of them, but have been to Majorca and Menorca and found both expensive to eat out and buy general things.

A few people have said that Tenerife and Lanzarote etc are cheaper to eat out - is this true? After All Inclusive was discussed on a thread here recently it got me thinking. I do like to eat out whenever possible but switched to AI holidays after Europe got more expensive.

Any experience?

i think lanzarote was slightly cheaper than here, but not massively so. on the other hand we eat in restaurants overlooking the sea - so i guess that ones further back might be better value.

Tenerife you can buy a set 3 course meal for ?8.50 which is fine, some Chinese, Thai and Indian buffets for abut the same, but you can also pay ?25 for a simple meal. Wander round in the evenings and take it all in and decide

I´m in Lanzaorote on holiday at the moment.Shops seem a bit more expensive than at home for food in general and nappies etc (I´m on holiday with toddler
& baby.)They have just opened 1 Lidl on the island though so if you have a car can do a big shop there.Restaurants are reasonable..tapas starts at 1-2 euros and can get a meal out for 4 euoros upwards (I´m in Playa Blanca).

skoda - where is lidl? we found the supermarkets in playa blanca a bit small last year - maybe thats cause we didn't have a car and just used the ones in the centre?

Mercadona is the cheapest chain in Spain. In las americas and around you have three. Eating out can be very cheap and good in tenerife, and I am not talking about chinese buffet - beurck

....

It is not expensive to eat in tenerife

Mel38:Weather today is 19 and a bit cloudy.Next 3 days are 18-19.Bring long sleeves & jackets for the evenings, it can get cold and we have had some windy nights. But in the day have been on the beaches in a bikini and kids in sunsuits :)!When you get here hire a car and go to the Papaguyo beaches, they are gorgeous and sheltered from the wind and the best thing about this area.
dreamingofsun: Lidl is on the circumvalacion road (LZ-3)East of Arrecife, next to Ikea.Agree the supermarkets in Playa Blanca are small!
