Anything to see at the Olympic park Stratford?

Visiting London next Sunday and wondered if going to Olympic stadium was worth it - anything to see close up? I'm inclined to think we'd see a windy building site from a distance. But the DCs have heard a lot about it obv! and I'm sort of interested.

windy building site is quite accurate, theres still not much open to view. If you head into the Westfield complex you can enjoy a delightful john lewis brunch over looking the site and building works at their top floor cafe...my DS loves going there just to watch the diggers go past, theres also a nifty viewing deck on their top floor which has a great view accross the city.
Alternatly just take the DLR out of stratford station towards canning town/canary wharf and you get to see quite alot of the site!!!! (of course sit in the front carriage and pretend like youre driving the train!)
HAve an awesome visit, any more q's just ask, we live just accross the road!!!

Discover Centre is just round the corner, so DLR/Discover/gawp at Olympic stadium, lunch at Westfield is a good day out. Or there are walking tours of the site I think.

Yeh discover is awesome, they were planning on changing it to a superhero theme soon, dont know if thats happened yet. A fabulous day out though!

This sounds like a perfect day for me and my teenagers during half term! Thanks Grin

I don't think Discover would work for teens - best for age 2-10 IMO

Yeh, not really teen orientated, defo more toddler, but upton park stadium and Wansted flats is just a bus ride away!
Perfect way to spend a half term afternoon? 'Afters' in forest gate (ten minutes away on the bus) has the most fabulous (and reasonable) ice creams in London, theyre incredible!!!!

hocuspontas · 05/02/2012 21:55

I'll ditch Discover then, thanks!

WittyTitle · 05/02/2012 21:59

go for the icecream tho!
