Cots provided by hotels / villas

I have a 4 month old baby boy and we have a couple of holidays booked. The first is a lodge in the UK (this month) and the second is a villa in Majorca (in June when he's 8 months). Both properties have cots but I wondered if it's Ok to use these cots or if I should buy a travel cot? Just wondered since the SIDS guidelines say you should always have a new mattress for your baby...

Any tips much appreciated.

I would have no hesitation in using the cots provided by hotels or villas. You really don't want to be lugging a travel cot around, you'll have enough other stuff as it is.

if you're worried, get a little life arc 2. they weigh about 2.5 kg and components can be packed separately rather than in the bag to take up less space. we normally go on holiday lugging rucksacks and managed to carry one of these with us and still have room for everything else.

but i second using what's provided, we would only take a travel cot if we couldn't get one where we were staying.

I have wondered this too! Why is it ok to use a secondhand mattress in a hotel but not at home? But equally a lot of faff to lug a travel cot about...

No help, I'm afraid, but at least you're not the only one who's confused Grin.
