Can i take food through airport security?

Now that you dont get a meal on the plane anymore i want to buy a subway, then take it through airside.
Will this be allowed?
Obviously am gonna eat it before we land in the canaries

I always give my mum a sandwich when she flies back to England from here (Germany) and she's never had a problem.

Yes but the food airside is even shittier than subway, which is why i want to buy it there.

Maybe if you put it in a ziploc with your tube of toothpaste they'll wave it through.

There doesnt seem to be any advice online as food isnt mentioned in either categories of things you can take and things you cant.
I will have to leg it up to security and ask before i buy my sub i think

Yes you can. I've taken entire picnics through with me, minus the drinks. And of course you can put sauce in your sandwich/subway/whatever.

Sandwiches are no problem at all - and as long as theres not a tub of sauce its not an issue.

Actually, I've taken dressing through. As long as it's less than 100ml there is absolutely no reason for them not to allow it through. Just put it in the poly bag with your other liquids/creams etc for them to see. I always take yogurts etc through with me and have never ever had an issue with customs at this end (Gatwick - where they are complete ogres at times).

Yes we take food through regularly as DS has food allergies. I have been prepared to argue but have never been questioned about it - as long as it is not a large volume of liquid like soup or something I think it should be fine.

Food is absolutely fine as long as it's not anything that could be seen as a liquid or gel, eg yoghurt (some security people let tubes of yoghurt through, some don't, in my experience). A sandwich is not a problem at all. I have been taking cool bags full of food through security for long haul flights for years.

if its wrapped in paper will they want me to unwrap it?

Well I've never been asked to unwrap sandwiches, so I doubt it very much.

MOS - I've been on some flights where edible things did present a problem on the flight like that ! The one in New Brunswick where there were more lobsters than people in the cabin, certainly

Its only a flight from bristol to canaries so hopefully they wont be too mean.
