Warning for First Choice cancellation rip-off!

My partner and I booked to travel to Egypt with our 4 month old son in April (i.e. 7 months at the time of departure). However, for various reasons, we unfortuantely had to cancel.

We had paid a £200 deposit, which is annoying but perfectly fair that you loose when you cancel. However, as we tried to cancel, First Choice now wants more money (even though we cancelled before the rest of the fee was due)! Another £75 per person to cancel! I find this outrageous as families are the most likely ones to face unexpected circumstances and thereby having to cancel, so its important with fair and CLEAR cancellation policies.

A deposit indicates that this is being lost in case of cancellation, but to add another 75% is very misleading. I really want to warn other parents so they avoid the same unfortunate scam.

They may have a "fair and clear" cancellation policy. Did you "read through your booking terms and conditions for full details of amendment and cancellation fees" as the website says?
