Really, $70 for a car seat HIRE in USA??

We are hiring a car for 9 days in USA and the child car seat price is $70, its a flat rate regardless of how long we use the car for, but I bought a car seat here from kiddicare for £40 here which is brilliant, so it gauls me to pay more to hire one, which is likely to be older etc...
Does anyone know of any baby stores in Boston city which would be asey to buy a seat from -if I'm paying $70 I'd rather a new one... I saw here
thanks

Your airline may allow you to take one free of charge.

WE went on BA and took ours with us. the problem is travelling from the airport in the car to the store to pick one up! they seemed to be pretty hot on car seats when we were out there. check with your airline first.

I took one free all the way from UK to new Zealand. They do say they don't promise it won't be damaged, but mine was fine. Didn't even wrap it. Just stuck a label on.

To be honest, $70 is not bad. Friends of ours went a few years ago and were charged ove $200 for 3 weeks. They ended up buying one on day 2 and taking the hired one back for a refund.

we always take ours now but beware, one got broken 2 years ago which was a pain. Always make sure I wrap it in bubblewrap now.
