We're spending a few days in Bexleyheath over half term while dd1 is rehearsing for a ballet production. I've been looking at what we can do that dds 2 and 3 will enjoy (they are just 9 and nearly 5).

So far I've thought of:

Greenwich (but where in particular?)
Discover Children's Story Centre
Geffrye Museum
Horniman Museum
Museum of London Docklands

What would you recommend doing and are these places easily accessible from Bexleyheath?

greewnwich - aim for the park/cutty sark /maritime museum. if you go on the weekend there is a market too. You can get a boat from greenwich to westminster

Horniman museum is not bad but will only take a morning/afternoon it is quite small

Never heard of geffrye museum. From bexley heath you are probably better going to victoria and doing the big museums

Eltham Palace - a fabulous Art Deco English heritage place - has lovely grounds, too.
Chatham Dockyards.
The Cutty Sark hasn't been open for years since it burned down, but is due to open 'spring 2012' - don't know if this means half term! But Greenwich is great - walk up the hill to the Obersvatory, fabulous views, free astronomy museum, planetarium shows (book), Maritime Museum.
The Docklands Museum is great, as is the journey to get there on the DLR.

Thanks, the DLR sounds fun - how do we get on it from Bexleyheath?
