Nice parts of Turkey/Greece?

Am looking for this years holiday. Have never been to either. Ideally would like a nice resort, beaches, a wee bit to do to keep ds (5) amused, restaurants etc. Keen to body swerve typically British resorts IYKWIM but equally don't want to be in the middle of no where, 2 hours from the airport.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

greeks love kids. they used to bring my son out little treats like a plate of chips, or an icecream when we went to restaurants (was outside school hols so fairly quiet). Most of the islands have 1 place that is full of drunken louts and rest is fine. Or some of the mainland is very nice. where does your local airport fly to?

We usually go to Turkey with our children and we love the Bodrum Peninsula, there are lovely lovely resorts there like Bitez, Turgutreis or Yalikavak that are the kind of places you are looking for and they are all approximately 40 - 50 minutes drive from the airport.

We also went to Kos and stayed in a resort called Mastihari, which was lovely and has a gorgeous beach. That is just 15 minutes drive from the airport.

Crete is very nice, we like the Chania part.

It depends if you are happy to go to a resort or want to do self catering, if you're happy to go to an AI then the Club med AI in Turkey are great. Lots to do for kids and adults, great food and not many English! : )

Ooh will have a look at that. Is there much in the surrounding area to have a wee wander about?

The one we went to last year, Beldi, had a few shops etc just outside but not that much else, however the resort is huge with a massive beach, lots of tennis courts, two large pools, sailing, volleyball, archery, a boat that took us snorkling twice a day, two bars, two restaurants etc! There were excursions you could pay to go on but we didn't feel the need.
We are going to Palmiyie just down the road from Beldi and I believe there is more to look at/ walk round outside the complex but it has the same as above plus waterskiing and circus/trapeze!!!

Olu Deniz in Turkey is stunning. The Brits are there but none of the england top wearing, fry up for breakfast with a pint of lager lot.
