Holiday with a 4 month old

Hi
Our first baby is due in May and we are planning on booking a holiday somewhere warm but not too hot for either the last week of September or first week of October. We are usually independant travellers but would be happy to book a package this time around. I am really looking for recommendations of where to go - we were thinking Portugal as its not too far but also Lanzarote as we do like it there. Ideally accommodation that is not too far from the beach and town. Open to ideas for other self catering holidays though!
Any help appreciated.
Jo

We took DD to Portugal when she was 4 months old. My parents came too, which helped, but actually it was much easier than we'd thought it might be. It's true that they are really portable at that age.

Thats good to know - my parents may come along too which would be great. Can i ask where you stayed?

With a young baby I would go self catering and book an apartment or villa. As in most hotel rooms you'll be trapped (some nights) in the same room with the baby asleep and thin walls so you'll be acutely aware when they are crying at night. You'll have more freedom and flexibility in self catering. Otherwise try and get a hotel room with separate sleeping area and balcony to sit out on.
