Croatia in July

I have set my heart on going to Croatia this summer with DCs aged 4 and 6. I have read some threads recommending islands but I want some specific recommendations fro accommodation:

Here is my wish list;

Self catering villa or apartment around a shared pool.I would like the DCs to be able to make friends.

Walking distance to the beach and shops and restaurants and supermarket.

Planning laws in Croatia mean that owners can only develop 30% of their land plot and swimming pools are counted as development. This applies to properties within 1 km of the coast. The upshot is that pools are exceptionally rare and they are almost always postage stamp sized when they exist at all.

On top of this the local view (including the planning officers) is that no one should want a pool when they can swim in the sea.

So, if you want a pool then you'll need an inland place, which means you are looking at istria.

Why not look at something like croatiaholidayandhome for ideas as it has a large number of foreign owned properties to let?
