Ok, we got last years holiday via a MN recommendation.....and it was great, really great.....please can MN do the business again?

Ideally we are looking at near continental Europe. Our ideal would be upmarket resort hotel with watersports/tennis etc. ie loads for our 3 children to do: youngest 6 oldest 10. Holiday will be in June.

We live in South Africa so would prefer European countries close to UK because of travelling times (coming via UK).

Have trawled recent MN threads and recommendations and not found anything quite right.

Any ideas. Any thoughts gratefully received.

Thanks!!!

A collegue of mine went to a water resort hotel thing in egypt with her 3 boys last summer and said it was brilliant. They had s room that backed straight onto the water park.

Not the UK, but Ireland (if you're prepared to go that far).

Portmarnock, a very decent hotel right on the beach. 20 minutes from Dublin Airport (45 mins from the port). Excellent golf, spa (to get over the flight) and beach fun for the kids.
And Castle Leslie (made famous by Paul and Heather McCartney). Quite the most magical scenery, excellent restaurant, supervised horse riding for the kids, a lake for rowing/fishing and reasonable Self-catering houses with play area out front.

And another spa.
Just saying like.

Another good idea! Keep 'em coming please :)

Have you thought of one of the Club Meds? They offer so much for the kids to do and great food and activities for adults too ( I did the trapeze which was great fun!). I have been to one in Tunisia and one in Turkey but they have them all over the place!

Funnily enough was just checking the website out on Club Meds. Great minds think alike. Any one you would particularly recommend?

Thanks

Have you considered Brazil? Direct flights from SA to Rio...

Toomanyboysinmyhouse · 28/01/2012 21:01

Poppercondria I am going to Rio during the Easter school holidays for 6 nights and then staying in a rain forest in Argentina for 4 nights... Very excited.

poppercondria · 28/01/2012 21:12

Oooo Toomany... that will be wonderful. Rio is wicked expensive right now but so very worth it.

OP, there's a large number of fab, child-friendly beach resorts up and down the coast of Brazil, everything from all-inclusive resorts to little inn-on-the-beach places.
