Would you recommend Rhyl in June?

We're thinking of taking dd & ds to north wales in june. Interested to know what other peoples experiences of this area are.

No. I wouldn't recommend Rhyl at any time of the year.

Huge drugs problem, ASBO capital of Wales, dirty water and it rains all the time.

deganwy is nice, and abergele.

rhyl reminds me of horrific caravan holiday's every year, and crossing a railway track to get to the beach.

Ok, thanks. Sounds like we'll be thinking again. We wanted to try somewhere different but not too far. We live in cornwall - have holidayed in somerset, dorset and isle of wight. Think we'll maybe go back to dorset again.

Wales is beautiful, but that bit of North Wales really isn't the best. Pembrokeshire (West Wales) is very beautiful, lovely beaches too.

Rhyl is a bit like Blackpool but without the nightlife/trams etc. Llandudno much nicer. Pembrokeshire is also fab - Tenby/St.Davids etc.

having come from north wales, i can honestly say i would not recommend rhyl ever, not if it were the last place on earth. llandudno, abergele, etc much nicer, as is criccieth down on the lleyn peninsula.

agree with tinker, conway is lovely.

but would echo other people, pembrokshire is beautiful.

I think that you would be devastated coming from somewhere as lovely as cornwall, to find your self "holidaying" ( and i use that term loosely) in Rhyl.

I was subjected to years of holidaying there as a child and can vividly remember it as not quite the end of the world..... but you can see it from there.

If you are coming from Cornwall, try either the Gower peninsula near Swansea, or farther west - Pembrokeshire/Ceredigion. V similar dramatic coastline to Cornwall. Lots of places in North Wales are worth a visit. Rhyl isn't one of them!

I live in North Wales and it's beautiful but Rhyl is dire ..it's like blackpool only much much much grottier

Anglesey has lots of nice places as does the llyn peninsula ..aberdaron for example, or near hell's mouth

there are millions of other places to visit too, welsh mountain zoo, great orme, conwy which is lovely , there is also a lovely secluded beach in deganwy.

Snowdonia is gorgeous too... and the denbighshire vales ... newborough beach on anglesey

I would have to recommend Anglesey too! Had many a great childhood holiday on the lovely Isle!

Also Llandudno too!

Newborough beach was the highlight of our hols!

I loved walking down to the beach past all pine trees - ahhh memories!
