Pontins - Southport. Have you been?

Has anyone ever been to Pontins at Southport?
I am thinking of taking my DCs in summer, but i've read some awful reviews.

If you have a car you may be better off in the Premier Inn in Southport and then visit the beach which is lovely near Pontins (Aisndale Beach with sand dunes) in the day. The Premier Inn is in a good location close to Southport and amenities. The Pontins doesn't get great reviews and is quite isolated in location, you'd need a car to get to anywhere decent. Had friends that stayed there, they moved out.

When we went it was a bit, erm, tired & the bed was bloody awful. Our chalet was directly opposite the crazy golf/climbing wall etc. It was also close to the club house which was ok for distance but v noisy.
AND they foisted Same Difference on us .
