Can you tell me about Marrakech?

Have been looking at Marrkech for October half term with DH and DD (who will be 10y. DH seems really interested in going here, so thought I would see if people here have been and what they thought, and see if anyone had any info to share.

It's a lovely place. The food and the people are lovely. It's a shopping heaven around Jemaa el fna square and a great place to have some food in the evening.
Marrakech is a great place but I would not stay there for more than a three or four days tops as there is not a great deal to see. However you have some great trekking in the mountains nearby (1h30mn by grand taxi) and you might also be able to go in the desert (been to the mountains,not the desert).
Prepare to haggle!

We went to Marrakech for our honeymoon, 10 years ago this October.
Loved it. Your DD (and you) would love it, loads to see and do, very friendly.
Ouzazarte (or something) is a good trip out in the desert and so is Essaoiuria (I know, my spelling is crap tonight) on the coast. You can see the goats climbing up trees then. It's a lovely day trip, or you could do half/half between there and Marrakech.
