Looking for a room for 5, either in dover or within an hour of calais, as a stopover on our way to holiday.

Cheap as possible really, hence the reluctance to book 2 rooms.

A clean bed and clean shower are the only requirements.

Thanks in advance.

A premier inn or travel lodge should do it.

There's a Premier Inn in Dover. Only 2 minutes from the docks.

Yes - they do only sleep 4. sometimes you can smuggle a child in if you arrive late at night/can be really discrete. However if they find out they make you take an extra room. there are quite a few websites one is take5 which are worth a quick google. it is a nightmare though generally so if you find something or some good websites please post back!

How old are your children? Best Western Dover does a family room (2 adults, 2 children) which will accommodate a fifth child in a cot if you have one that young.

3rd!! 3rd 3rd 3rd child not 5th!

You could look at B and B Hotels in France, we have stayed in Calais and Boulogne. They are motel type places and they do do 4 bedded rooms (there's only 4 of us), and depending how old/big your DC are one could squeeze in the double with you or there would be room to squeeze in a readybed on the mezzanine level. Our kids love them as the 2 singles are on a mezzanine, but there is a gate. The check in is often only manned for a few hrs in a morning and evening so if you arrived outside those times (you use a automatic check in which prints out your key code) and didn't book a breakfast, you wouldn't see anyone so no one would know you had sneaked in an extra. If you did arrive while check in is manned you could just send 1 in to check in while the others wait in the car They are basic but they have always been clean, they are usually just off the motorways, are usually near several eating places, and the Calais/Boulogne ones up near the channel usually have a few english tv channels too!

Thanks for the replies.

The youngest will be 2.5 when we go.

He is well used to sleeping in our bed anyway so thats not an issue!

This website has four showing here. I cannot vouch for them as I have never been. Someone put a link up to the website (or similar)and I remember think that it might be useful for someone. I hope it is even if it is in the future sometime.
