Did MW at Egypt - very quiet, luxurious, expensive

What are other MW holidays like?

How do Sunsail & Club Med compare?

Hi katymac, Club Med is very similar, but it is french, whatever village the resort is in, it's all french.

There are lots of mumsnet sunsail devotees who may be able to answer.

Have you seen, by the way, the new Mark Warner mauritius, oh my, I am buying lottery tickets! We thought Abu Soma was expensive!!

katymac · 17/01/2006 19:59

French as in I have to speak it? or just a french atmosphere?

no french speaking; so the kids clubs are french, the shows are in french etc etc...

Prettybird · 18/01/2006 11:29

There is also Neilson, if you are interested in water sports and/or mountain biking.

katymac · 18/01/2006 11:37

OK as my french is crap - and DD only started last term - I think Club Med is out

Neilson isn't open yet at April

So MW or Sunsail it is

I wonder which one....?

I've never done Club Med but I've down MW & SS. I prefer SS as they take the children all day, none of this messing around at lunchtime. I also think the clientelle on SS aren't quite so full on "yummy" & Boden - if that makes sense.
Having said that met very nice people on both types of holiday.

bluesky · 18/01/2006 16:14

katymac try sunsail for a change, and then you won't spend the following years wondering. You've done Abu Soma, go for a Sunsail and then see what you think. It sounds like your family really enjoy the sailing. When we were at Mark Warner in Paleros, across the water we could see a Sunsail resort.

Maybe - it's not very warm in April tho'

oh, didn't realise that bit! Looks like you'll just HAVE to go to MW Mauritius, and test it out for us!

Haven't done MW but have done SS in Antigua and Turkey. MW tends to be a bit more expensive and SS do operate their kids' clubs all day which is important if you want to take part in some activities (we dive so the lunchtime break made MW impossible). Sunsail accommodation tends to be clean and comfortable rather than at all luxurious and food OK rather than delicious (I think the same is true of MW) but lots of the clubs are near local vilages where you can go on non-dining nights. Have always met some good people.

After a bit of working out - we can't afford it never mind - I'm not taking out a loan for a holiday (bummer)

Sorry

Have you tried using Avant Garde . They seem to do some discounts on MW and Sunsail. I've only used them for MW but found that I get usually get at least 10% off even in school holidays. The discounts may be more earlier in the year. MW have now got a Portugal place?

katymac · 19/01/2006 20:52

Thanks Ladymuck - it's just a nonstarter (I'm over £1k adrift)

I will use them for my Christmas holiday
