Same as my post on Menorca- quiet, scenic, beaches.

Ideally near an airport as long car travel is sometimes tricky with a health issue.

Damn iPhone. Hotel le Magnolia in the centre of Calvi. Would love to go back!

Calvi, won a holiday there last year. Fantastic! Definitely hire a car to explore. We stayed in Le Home.

Thanks!

Only issue is that air fares to Corsica seem really ££££ and limited airports. we live 10 mins from Luton so would love to fly from there.

You can fly to Nice and get a ferry to Calvi...

Lucyannieamy · 17/01/2012 22:56

We did our honeymoon there, Calvi and Bastia. The wine is great, beachs good, people friendly plenty to visit, would recommend

How long does the ferry take? I am not a good sea traveller but the option of flying to Nice sounds good.

We flew to Sardinia on a budget airline, then after a few days took a ferry to Corsica (can't remember how long the journey was but don't remember it being epic).

You come in to Bonifaccio (spelling?) which is great. We hired a car and went to Ponto Veccio and Calvi.

Plan was to get ferry from Calvi to Nice and then budget airline home. But for reasons I forget the ferry was cancelled so we got a plane instead - it was about £30 (seven years ago) and took about 20 mins

We absolutely loved Corsica. Amazing beaches and great food. And not as cheap as we thought (we saved money by buying breakfast from the baker instead of having it at the hotel).

We went with Corsican Places from Stansted, I think you can get flights and accomodation for around £500pp. They also offer accomdation only and there are offers on that at the moment too.

Calvi - perfect for couples and for kids. Gentle shelving beach, airport very close, plenty of places to eat and drink - excellent rose....

Also just up the coast Ile Rousse - the two are joined by a lovely little train service!

Check out www.homelidays.co.uk for a private hire of accom with the owner direct. You can fly to Calvi or get the boat from France/Sardinia/Italy - we drove from Germany and overnighted on the ferry from Savona to Bastia. Lots of options and is fantastic

Would go again at the drop of a hat.

so many lovely places in Corsica but hilly and windy roads mean road travel takes a long time. Would also recommend Calvi/Ile Rousse. We flew to Nice, had a short city break and then I flew on to Calvi. 25 mins flight max booked through Air France (45euros). Took the ferry back and really regretted it as very choppy (ended up as five hours) crossing and I was really sick for most of it! Easy jet et al fly to corsica.
There are mark warner/club meds nr to calvi
