How much do you pay for a family of 4 all inclusive in school holidays

Can anyone give me a rough idea of prices for an all-inclusive holiday? I have so far got one quote for a week in summer half term to the caribbean in a 4/5 star resort for 2 adults, 2 school children for just under £6k!

Seems horrendously expensive to me but we have not travelled to a. the caribbean b. in a half term c. all inclusive before so perhaps this is considered normal and we just need to re-think.

I never pay more than 5k otherwise I find once the price of a couple of trips have been added on the price really mounts up. I have taken my children to Caribbean quite a few times and have found Domincan Republic and Cuba better value than St Lucia and Barbados. That said I did go to Almond Smugglers Cove in st Lucia and got quite a good deal by booking flight and hotel separately.

we did sani beach last year, summer hols, half board though for about 7k,then spent about anouther 1.8k whilke we were there.
we are going ai at easter,dominican, 2 weeks,for 6700.
it does seem expensive for a week.

Thanks for this, it did take my breath away a bit. If you are using a travel agent who do you use? I am happy to go direct and/or book flights separately but not so sure of how to find the resorts, so it's great to get some names to look at.

My quote is through Kuoni as a lovely brochure dropped through the door, possibly just too lovely for us in school holidays.

Egypt has some lovely all inclusive resorts for half of the price you were quoted for the Caribbean.
Kuoni is one of the more expensive tour operators. You could always look up the hotels in the brochure direct or google them and see who else does them. What was your original quote for?

have a look at this w i called them for a quote and they were very helpful. i then called thompson tailormade and the matched the price but had BA flights. agree about the comments on kuoni.

6 of us going to Goa just after Easter, (7 nights) still in school hols. 2 Adults 4 kids.
4* all in, flights too. 4.5K. Not expecting luxury, but will be sunny and having been to Goa before I know what to expect.

We are going for two weeks in June but one is half term so school prices apply AI to club med in Turkey at their 4 trident resort (like a 4 /5) Loads of sports and great food etc, just under 4k for two adults and a 5yo and 8yo.

ENormasSnob · 17/01/2012 08:30

Kuoni is always expensive.

Depends where and what you want from a holiday.

We paid 2.5k last August for 2 weeks ai in turkey. Had a great time.

If you want a beautiful beach better than the Caribbean and cheaper then check out Cape Verde we stayed on Sal island in Riu Funana hotel and the beach was by far better than any carribbean hol I've had. Beautiful picture postcard clear seas and very hot weather . It cost us for 3 people 2000

Thank you everyone, certainly have loads to think about. The Caribbean Collection link from hifi looks promising and I have heard about cape verde as well but never heard of anyone who had actually been before so lots more research to do.

But looks like we may be able to go on holiday after all!

I was looking at a rather nice resort in St Vincent, with lots of sports/coaching included in offer which probably helps account for the higher price.
