Searching for the absolutely cheapest family weekend in Paris - can you help?

I'd love to take my boys to Paris for a couple of days, not to Disney, but for city sightseeing.

I'm looking for the very very cheapest eurostar deal in the world and we're not fussed about a posh hotel - just somewhere clean, as a base, which isn't miles from the centre.

Dopes anyone know where to look online? Or has anyone been recently and got a really good deal? I'm happy to contact the hotels and book direct. (Used to work in travel industry many moons ago but am very rusty and don't know who to contact now.)

I've checked on Lastminute and the deals are not bad but it's offering those faceless out of town hotels and I don't know how to alter the requirements to get a more characterful 2 or 3 * hotel.

Thanks

When are you lookIng to come? (I live here. Just wondering about your timetable as obv it is cheaper if you avoid eg easter; also hotels tend to be cheaper at weekend than on weekdays when they cater for business types). From time to time there are big conferences here and it's nigh impossible to find a room at all. bizarrely enough.

Get a flat from holidayrentals.co.UK then you won't need to eat out.

Are you in Paris, Frisky? Lucky you. Thanks for the tip about when to go. .

I was wondering about the first weekend of half term, so staying over from Fri 10th-Sun 12th - or something similar. Pretty flexible.

I don't suppose (wild chance) you know an off-the beaten track hotel inside a walled garden on the left bank not far from Rue Mouffetard? Some friends of ours stayed there when I was working there, and we visited. It was a real budget family run hotel but absolutely lovely. I keep trying to remember its name but can't.

I just want to take the DC up the Eiffel Tower, up to Sacre Coeur, to Notre Dame, maybe a boat trip, maybe one of the galleries (probably not the Louvre but maybe Orsay.) So Left Bank would be ideal for all but Montmartre.

Or if you can recommend a super cheap but nice enough hotel I'm happy to book direct through them, if it's cheaper.

Thanks so much for your replies.

Dr Seuss, that's great - I didn't have either of those links.
