What's the best UK hotel in your experience?

Can't find winter sun holiday with kids club within our budget, so sod the caribbean - we are dumping DS with his grandparents and going to have 4/5 nights on our own in a luxury country house hotel somewhere in the UK.

Am thinking Babington House/Cowley Manor style. Any suggestions?

the grove is fab - and u can nip into londom for some shopping. dont go to seaham hall we had the worst holiday of our lives there!

notasheep, save money by eating at Le Manoir and staying elsewhere nearby. We went there for 10th wedding anniversary and the price was astronomical. Rooms too chintzy, fab for the americans coming to do england/cotswolds etc, they have that market to a tee, but oh boy. We had a lovely meal and a nice time away, but it really didn't justify that amount of money for one night. I remember more the amount of money spent as opposed to the WOW of staying there.

Whereas we went to Babington another year, yes, expensive, but we had the most amazing, pampered, indulgent, wonderful time, I felt it was worth every penny.

(Somebody recently on here recommended a place nearby to stay to Le Manoir).

We stayed here and had a nice time, can't compare it with the others mentioned though. You could take the kids too as there is stuff for them to do as well.

Luckily in my job I get to stay in alot of beautiful hotels, but my absolute favourite so far has to be Turnberry. I really want to take ds and dh there.
